ABC Pharmacy takes the confidentiality and security of the information it holds extremely seriously and as a result we have numerous measures in place to ensure the integrity or our data and system.

We have chosen RackSpace to host our web site and store our data (non-credit card) as they are one of the country's leading internet hosts. Not only do they ensure our systems are running 24 hours a day but that our computers are held in a high security data centre.

The data centre has many levels of physical security to prevent unauthorised access. Additionally we have added our own personal firewall on top of the firewalls already provided by Rack Space to further prevent electronic intrusion to our data.

These facilities are considered so safe they are used by people such as the world's largest banks and the Ministry of Defence.

Whenever we transmit data between our site and other computers we use 128 Bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption provided by Verisign©.

To ensure your information cannot be read by other people, this is one of the most advanced encryption technologies available. You can tell when your information is being encrypted as a lock will appear in your web browser.

You may also notice that the web address changes to 'https' which shows that you have now moved to a secure area of our web site.

When you pay for your products we transfer you from our own web site directly to the web site of the payment processing company PROTX. Protx is a leading Internet Payment Provider and is recommended to us by Lloyds Bank.

All of your payment information is entered into a secure encrypted area of the Protx web site.

We do not hold any credit or debit card details on our own computer systems. If we have to make a refund we are not given your card details, we identify your original transaction by being shown transaction ID, your name, card type and the last 4 digits of the card.

We then request that the appropriate amount of money be returned to that card, we can therefore only make refunds to your original card.

Finally, unlike some web sites we do not use permanent cookies – files stored on your computer to remember your interactions with a web site. They are designed to be left on your computer to help speed up the repeat operation of web sites you regularly visit.
